San Antonio Community Development Council
ABOUT US
Building Community – Creating Jobs – Celebrating History and Culture
Founded in 1988, the San Antonio Community Development Council (SACDC) is a non-governmental, nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to addressing the lack of affordable housing for low-income families. SACDC works to preserve and create affordable housing for low to moderate-income families and senior citizens, eliminate blighted conditions, and promote strong and safe resident communities by supporting resident organizations and encouraging public input.
SACDC mobilizes community resources to enhance employment and create business opportunities for low-income individuals, designing and implementing community-based initiatives that foster self-sufficiency through self-help initiatives. The organization serves as General Partner / Owner of two low-income housing developments, with funding support through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Texas Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program.
Governed by a board of directors composed of civic-minded individuals from the community, SACDC ensures at least one-third of its membership includes low-income individuals or residents of low-income neighborhoods, qualifying it as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO).
